2019 Fall Sephora VIB Sale Recommendations
Updated: Dec 17, 2019
Friends, Beauty Lovers, Sephora Countrymen & Women, lend me your ears (and lend Sephora your wallets). The greatest time of the year is back. The 2019 fall Sephora VIB Sale is upon us (at least starting Nov. 1), and it's time to take advantage of one of the only times major beauty brands can be scored at a discount. From Fenty Beauty's newest hydrating foundation to Drunk Elephant's cult classic Marula Oil, now's the time to snag those splurge items you've been staring at on your wishlist for weeks.
If, however, you want to test something new, be a little adventurous, or are somewhat of a beauty newbie and want to delve deeper, I've got some of Sephora's best products to recommend. Whether you want makeup, skin care, or hair care (fragrance is way too personal to recommend, IMO), I'll run you through some of my Sephora favorites and let you take it from there.
Ready? Here we go!
1. The Ordinary Buffet with Copper Peptides
The Ordinary is known for its ultra-affordable, minimalist approach to skin care, and it works. The only caveat is that you have to understand what each individual ingredient does. The Buffet + Copper Peptides takes the guesswork out of that and adds a little something extra. The name says it all in that the serum is a combination of several individual ingredients The Ordinary sells including hyaluronic acid, probiotics, and amino acids. Unlike the regular Buffet, though, this version adds a peptide blend that helps to combat inflammation and redness and improve collagen production. The addition of the peptides does make this product a bit more expensive than other Ordinary products, but it's still a great cost.
2. Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo
You've likely heard and seen much ado about Briogeo's Banana Coconut and Apple Kale shampoo and conditioner duos. They've been making the rounds on social media, but for me, Briogeo's OG Scalp Revival line is where it's at. This shampoo is a god-sent when I've used too much dry shampoo or my scalp is feeling particularly dry and flaky.
3. Belif Aqua Bomb Sleeping Mask
Welcome to another edition of Shea's unpopular beauty opinions. When you hear about sleeping masks, particularly ones for moisture, it's the Laneige Sleeping Mask that typically gets a mention. Don't get me wrong. It's great. But the Belif Aqua Bomb is better. Yes, I said it. Not only does this thing smell like heaven in a jar, but the unique, bouncy gel-cream texture gives your face a refreshing bit of chill before bed, and yes, it's totally pillow proof. With winter here, it's the best time to try a sleeping mask.
4. Dior Lip Glow
Look, $34 is a lot for a lip balm. I know, and I'm sorry because this product is a must-have. Not only does this lip balm help to nourish your lips, but the colors are so gorgeous. The balm provides a subtle tint to the lips that reacts with your natural pH for a perfect color. I love this so much that I even used it on my sister-in-law when I did her makeup for the wedding.
5. Tatcha The Rice Polish Foaming Enzyme Powder
Chemical exfoliators aren't for everyone. Well, they are in my opinion, but if you don't feel comfortable using them, Tatcha's Rice Polish is an incredible, gentle physical exfoliator. While there is a slight texture to this powder, it's the enzymes that help to get rid of any dead skin you have. Yes, this is an expensive product, but a little goes a long way. Plus, the best time to buy costly products is the Sephora VIB sale when you actually do have a discount.
6. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush
Is this a $40 blush? Yes, yes it is. But again, Sephora VIB sale time is when to splurge, and this product is certainly that. I've just recently gotten my hands on this incredible blush, and the thing that makes it so incredible is that it's low key two products in one: blush and highlight. Hourglass is known for its lit from within glowy goods, and this one does not disappoint. If you're not into that whole Instagram glam kind of highlighter, try this blush combo and see if it's more your jam.
7. Farmacy Beauty Green Clean Makeup Removing Balm
There will never be a time when I don't recommend this product. In fact, it's so good that I wrote an entire piece for Bustle about it. The beauty of Green Clean is that it seamlessly melts away makeup (hence the name) and washes away completely clean with water. No wash rag needed and no filmy residue left behind. It truly is a miracle product, my holy grail oil cleanser, and a must-have.
8. Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra Longwear Concealer
Oh boy, Shape Tape, move over. Laura Mercier's concealer is my new favorite. Not only does this product offer great coverage, but it's more hydrating than most that I've used lately. While I don't have the driest under-eyes, I also don't love that cake-like crepey look. This doesn't give it to you at all. Plus, it blends like a dream. If you're a makeup newbie, grab this WAY before you reach for something as intense as Shape Tape.
9. Glow Recipe Watermelon Pink Juice Oil-Free Moisturizer
Like the Farmacy Green Clean, Glow Recipe products are items I'll always recommend. One of my favorites is the brand's Pink Juice Moisturizer. The light-weight product is inspired by the brand's iconic Overnight Glow Watermelon Mask, and it smells just as amazing. For me, this product works better as a serum as I have combination/dry skin. As a serum, it's incredibly calming if you have any sort of irritation and moisturizing at the same time. For people like my partner who has combination/oily skin, this is one of his holy grails. That's the beauty of it. Anyone can grab this product and use it.
10. Kitsch x Justine Marjan Rhinestone Glam Bobby Pin
Admittedly, I'm not much for a trend, but the Kitsch x Justine Marjan clips are SO popular that I can't resist them. If you're a '90s baby like me or just love something glittery, the brand's bobby pins are for you. With the holidays coming up, they much such a fun and sparkly hair accessory.
